These unique mixed metal earrings are carefully handcrafted from stone-textured brass and sterling silver.
They were inspired quite directly by my favourite house-plant, a several-year-old avocado grown from a pit, one of whose leaves kept hanging down and looking like an earring. I changed the elegant, very regular silhouette of the avocado leaf into a more personal botanical shape, which for me somehow also holds the image of a certain type of seaweed. These earrings are biggish and striking but not at all obvious and they do look a lot like leaves, stuck into the ear by the stalk. Which is sterling silver, oxidized to black and polished only very lightly by hand. The brass is also oxidised, the beautiful bright gold brought out additionally by light polishing.
While this colour will grow darker with time, it will retain a magical richness. If you wish, you may polish the earrings from time to time to return their shine.
